Ketahuan Tak Bisa Baca, Siswa SMP di Pangandaran Ini Putuskan Keluar Sekolah

PANGANDARAN, KOMPAS.com – Minder karena ketahuan tidak bisa baca, seorang siswa SMP Negeri 1 Mangunjaya, Kecamatan Mangunjaya, Pangandaran, Jawa Barat, memilih keluar sekolah. Guru sekolah sekaligus koordinator Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) di Pangandaran, Dian Eka Purnamasari mengatakan, ada 29 siswa-siswi SMPN 1 Mangunjaya yang belum bisa baca tulis. Mereka bahkan ada yang duduk di kelas IX dan siap-siap kelulusan. “Ada satu orang, dua tahun kemarin [keluar). Ketahuan tidak bisa membaca,” ujar Dian, Kamis (3/8/2023). Saat ketahuan tidak bisa membaca, wali kelas mereka sempat menyarankan belajar membaca sepulang sekolah. “Tapi, mungkin saya enggak tahu bagaimana, apakah ada temannya yang iseng atau bagaimana. Akhirnya, dia merasa minder karena teman-temannya sudah bisa membaca tapi dia belum,” tutur Dian.

Saat itu, para guru berusaha menahan siswa tersebut tidak memilih keluar sekolah. Namun susah. “Karena, kata orangtuanya itu, anaknya sudah enggak mau bersekolah lagi karena malu,” beber dia. Biasanya, guru meluangkan waktunya untuk mengajar siswa agar belajar membaca ketika waktu pulang atau setelah selesai waktu kegiatan belajar mengajar. “Nah, mungkin ada siswa lain yang melihat dia tidak pulang dan sedang belajar membaca di sekolah. Jadi, akhirnya minder dan anak itu enggak mau bersekolah lagi,” ujarnya.
